Minden, NV – On Friday, April 5, 2024 Douglas County Deputies were called to the Edgewood Tahoe Resort for a report of a female using a stolen credit card while attempting to pay for incurred charges. The female had reserved the room online using a false name and provided additional, false identification upon check-in.
The female was identified as 34-year-old, Kaleigh Thinnes from Sarasota, Florida. Thinnes had four outstanding warrants out of different Florida and California jurisdictions for identity theft and being part of an organized identity theft ring amongst other charges. Thinnes was arrested and provided false identification upon arrest to identify herself.
Thinnes’ was with a male accomplice who was identified as 38-year-old Gabriel Pizarro-Flores. Pizarro-Flores had two outstanding warrants out of Santa Clara County Superior Court and was in possession of a controlled substance and burglary tools.
Multiple travel bags and luggage, approximately ten passports belonging to other people, in addition to multiple laptop computers and tablets were located within the Edgewood Tahoe room Thinnes and Pizarro-Flores rented. Many of the bags contained identifying information of other people.
The vehicle Thinnes and Pizarro-Flores were using was seized. It was determined this vehicle was purchased from a car dealership in Pleasant Hill, California, using false identifying information of another person.
Thinnes is currently under investigation in other jurisdictions in Florida and California for similar criminal activities and is alleged to have engaged in similar criminal activities throughout different jurisdictions within the United States.
Thinnes was booked into the Douglas County Jail for fugitive warrants, defrauding an innkeeper, fraudulent use of credit cards, possession of stolen property, possession of a stolen motor vehicle and identity theft.
Pizarro-Flores was booked into the Douglas County Jail on fugitive warrants, defrauding an innkeeper, fraudulent use of a credit card, possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia and possession of burglary tools.
