MINDEN, Nev. – The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a free Senior Scam Seminar, designed to educate residents about identifying and preventing scams Thursday, Sept. 18, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Kahle Community Center, located at 236 Kingsbury Grade, in Stateline, Nevada. The session will provide practical tools, real-world examples, and resources to help participants identify warning signs to protect themselves and their loved ones.

“Fraudulent schemes affecting residents are on the rise, and unfortunately, these often target seniors,” said Sheriff Dan Coverley. “These include phone and email scams to in-person tactics that exploit trust. The goal of this seminar is to help equip our residents to recognize the signs of a scam and not fall victim to their tactics. We know that education is one of the best defenses against fraud.”

During the free seminar, attendees will gain valuable knowledge on common scam tactics, how to spot them, steps to take if you or someone you know becomes a target, and resources available through local law enforcement and community partners.
