Elderly Scam Suspect

Minden, NV – On September 9, 2024, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office Street Enforcement Team (DCSET), conducted an investigation into an elder scam. The suspect was part of a group who used threats to intimidate the victim into giving them approximately $68,000.00. DCSET made contact with one of the suspects who drove to the victim's residence to pick up more money. DCSET was able to arrest Minglong Chen for Conspiracy, Extortion, and Exploitation of the elderly/vulnerable person. Chen is being held on $100,000.00 bail and an immigration hold (ICE hold).

This investigation is still ongoing.
