DCSO Responds to Report of Missing Child; Successfully Found Safe

Stateline, NV- On June 10, 2020 at approximately 10:23 am, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) Deputies responded to a report of a missing two-year-old child at the Hard Rock Casino in Stateline, NV.  When the deputies arrived, they learned that a woman had checked into the hotel the night before with her two teenage sons and her two-year old daughter.

The woman left her room at approximately 8:00 am to attend a conference being held at the Hard Rock leaving her two teenage sons and her daughter sleeping in the hotel room.  The woman returned to her room at approximately 10:00 am and found her two sons still asleep and her daughter missing.

Once the patrol deputies broadcasted the circumstances of the missing child, the response to the Hard Rock was massive.  The entire DCSO Investigations Division responded as well as the Tri-Net Narcotics Task Force. The South Lake Tahoe Police Department sent several officers as well as the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office (EDSO).  The Search & Rescue Units from both DCSO and EDSO were called out as well as a helicopter from the California Highway Patrol.

Reverse 911 call was made to all telephone subscribers on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe as well as all telephone subscribers in South Lake Tahoe to notify as many people as possible of the missing girl and her description.

A room to room search was conducted, and luckily the girl was found asleep in an unoccupied hotel room.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office wishes to thank all of the allied agencies that responded to help with the search as well as the entire staff of the Hard Rock Casino.
